Today is the first day of February 2016 Kids Clothes Week Challenge. This time I started off with something quick and fun – a twirly skirt for Veronica. Last week I made a twirly skirt for Mathilda, and this one is made to match!
I used the Stripwork Skirt pattern by Pink Fig Designs. I don’t think I’ve made this one before – it really is very twirly! There’s a lot of width there for a small girl.
The skirt is made from assorted strips of coordinating fabrics, with a hem band and yoke waistband with elastic casing.
How long did it take?
I had the fabric already cut out and ready to go for today, so I was able to get straight into the sewing. I got to use the gathering foot on my sewing machine – using that always makes me happy! This is where I got up to at the one hour mark:
So it didn’t really take me long. Another half hour and it was finished:
And because I used my overlocker the whole way through, after some serious loose thread snipping, its pretty neat on the inside too.
Just like Mathilda’s skirt last week, this fabric is an assortment from the range “Fine and Dandy”, by Lori Whitlock for Riley Blake Designs. I love the tortoises.
Hopefully later in the week I’ll be able to get Veronica to model it for me – she’s napping right now!
