A Pocket Full O’ Bunnies

Kids Clothes Week Days 4, 5 and 6

I’ve been a bit busy with all sorts of things this week, and sewing time has been mostly late at night. I find that the sewing machines are a bit too noisy after a certain time, especially the overlocker, because my sewing room is right next to all our bedrooms. So some nights, I just did the cutting out, or ironing on the interfacing. But this afternoon I managed to finish another shirt for Jonathan.

The Pattern

I used the same pattern that I used for the Toy Soldiers shirt – “Lee” from Ottobre Design 2016/1. The shirt is a great fit on Jonathan and was reasonably easy to make, with some nice design features.

The Fabric

I don’t much about this fabric, I found it in the remnant bin at Spotlight, all that it has on the selvedge is this:

But I think its adorable – paper doll bunnies! And what’s even better, they’re all boy bunnies!

I used Swiss Dots by Riley Blake Designs for the contrasting trims, Jonathan specifically requested polka dots – he’s an individual.

And, one small difference from the previous shirt – I made the pocket in the contrast fabric as well.

…but what’s that? There’s are bunnies in the pocket!

Not just one bunny …

A whole lot of bunnies!

I cut out the bunnies from the scrap fabric, there are 4 different ones.

And I stitched an outline around them, attaching them to some white felt.

I did have a try at doing the same thing with the jackets and hats that are also on the fabric, but that didn’t work so well. I don’t really think that the clothes are designed to be cut out and used to dress the bunnies.

Kids Clothes Week

There’s only one more day to go – I’m not sure what I’m going to make yet, so make sure to check back tomorrow to see what I create!

Thanks for reading.
