I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to do some pattern testing for Delia Creates! I have been a huge fan of Delia’s for years, I love her honest and sophisticated style. I felt quite a bit starstruck really!

Delia is re-releasing some of her sewing patterns (she also does crochet patterns) including this jacket, the Carrie Cardigan.

The Pattern

The Carrie Cardigan is a dolman sleeved, cocoon shaped cardigan. So, there aren’t any buttons or zips, or any closures at all! This makes it such an easy sew – great for beginners.

There are options for two different lengths, and two different sleeves. I made up the shorter length version.

And made it with long sleeves. Its such an easy style to wear, and I love the shape of it – it doesn’t fall off the shoulders, is generous enough to meet in the front, long enough at the back, and the sleeves aren’t so long that I’m forever pushing them up.

There is a neckband that extends all the way around the front and back – so no hemming required either!

The size range is from XS-XXXL, the style of this cardigan makes it quite flexible for size though, it is designed to be worn loose and drapey.

The Fabric

This pattern is designed for knit fabrics, but can even be made with light-weight wovens for the short sleeve version. I made this up in a pretty burnt-out, light-weight knit, when I found this fabric I immediately saw it becoming a summer jacket to throw on when an extra layer is needed.

This pattern is perfect for that.

Although I did find it a bit difficult to photograph.

However, I wanted to show it being worn with a couple of different coordinates.

And even though the white ‘flares’ here, you can have a good look at the length on this.

Where to get it?
You can get the Carrie Cardigan pattern directly from the shop at Delia Creates! Its just that easy. You get beautiful instructions and full size patterns to print at home, and you might want to check out some of her other beautiful patterns while you’re there.

A Quick Note on these Pants…

These are the Made by Rae Luna Pants, I have made a few of these, this pair is made from a medium-weight jet black rayon. They are so fabulous to wear, I love them. You can read more about my love for my Luna Pants.

Thanks for reading!
