New Pattern Release: The Lacey Back Tee by Snuggle My Baby Patterns
My first pattern testing for this year is this gorgeous tee shirt by Snuggle My Baby Patterns, called the Lacey Back Tee.
The pattern is for a tee shirt that looks fairly standard from the front – nice neckline, slightly loose fit.
Great for showing off some fabric that is fun in its own right.
But then it has a gorgeous pleated panel at the back.
Making it a fantastic tee for everyday wear that is certainly not boring!
Its actually very girly.
And it looks pretty fancy, but the pattern instructions are so clear, this would be a great pattern for a beginner, as well as providing almost instant gratification for a more experienced sewist.
This tee has a nice high-low hem.
My girls just love these tee shirts (and each other).
This pattern is designed for stretch fabrics, although I suspect that the back could be made with a woven – I might have to try that!
For both of these tee shirts I used some cute printed 4-way stretch fabric for the front, sleeves, neckband and back yoke. Veronica just loves this rainbow print, and Mathilda is into nature prints at the moment. I got both of these prints from Ali Express, with the intention to make some fun summer clothes for the kiddies. This pattern provides a good canvas to feature these prints.
I used a white stretch lace for the backs, I’ve had it for ages and I’m not really sure of its origin anymore. I have a fair sized piece of it left, so I’ll have to think about what to do with it, its quite nice. It is reasonably thick, and not too see-through, but it will be nice and cool to wear during the hot weather. The back doesn’t have to be made from lace though, some of the other testers made adorable versions with warmer fabric.
I made both of these tee shirts with short sleeves, because it is summer here in Melbourne, Australia. The pattern comes with long or 3/4 sleeves as well.
I made a size 4 for Veronica, and a size 8 for Mathilda.
The length is absolutely spot on, and perfect to wear with leggings for a casual look.
