For quite a while, Jonathan has been asking for a dinosaur hoodie, with spikes. Recently, I finally got around to making it.
I used pattern number 22 from Ottobre Design 3/2014. I cut the back as two separate pieces and sandwiched the spikes in between. Instead of the supplied appliqué I used a machine embroidery design from emblibrary.com to appliqué the dinosaur and his “RAWR!”.
I used a really soft grey husky fleece for the main fabric. The green spikes are made from felt (which I scored from the off cut bin – yay me), and I added a lining to the hood in a lightweight blue t-shirt knit from stash.
This was fun to make, and an easy sew. I’m really happy with it, especially as I’m still really only a beginner when it comes to sewing with knits. My little man loves it too.
It’s really good for digging for bones…
And for visiting amazing animals…
…and for sleeping!
