I don’t think I can tell you about how much I love this pattern! And that I seriously don’t know why it took me so long to get around to making it! This is the Miss Maggie top by 1 Puddle Lane Pattern Studio.

This top is another project completed as part of my planned capsule for the “Sew Alongs & Sewing Contests” (Facebook group) Seasonal Sew Wardrobe: Deep Stash (SSW:DS) challenge. The challenge for this is to sew 8 coordinating garments using only patterns that you purchased prior to 1 January 2017. I have a huge stash collection of patterns that I’ve been accumulating over the years, so this is a great challenge to bust into that collection and pull out some patterns that have been on the to-do list for a long time.

For this capsule, I seem to have chosen to sew all the black things, but this top is the exception, and a nice addition of colour to my wardrobe. I tend to find it difficult to commit to wearing colour – harking back to my goth-inspired teenage years I guess!

The Pattern

This is such a beautiful pattern, I really love the fit. As soon as I had finished and put it on, it was just perfect – so comfortable, and so flattering. I need to make many more of these.

Of course, the star feature of this top is the lovely draped cowl. Assembling this pattern was a bit like putting together a giant 3D puzzle, but it all went together without any problems, and as someone who is a bit spacially challenged – it was a little mind-blowing!

This pattern is for knit fabrics and comes with loads of options:
* It can be a dress or top.
* There are two different lengths for the flared, panelled skirt
* Sleeveless plus 4 sleeve lengths
* No zips or other closures
* It can also be made with or without the cowl

The pattern is available in sizes 6 – 20. Seriously, I need to have more of these in my life.

The Fabric

Some of my Australia readers will instantly recognise this fabric, this is from the Big W sale that we all went completely bananas about last month. I only used about one and a half of the pre-cut bundles, so that made it quite a bargain to sew up. This fabric is quite soft, and lovely to wear.

The Giveaway! – The Competition has now closed.

Ann from 1 Puddle Lane Pattern Studio has kindly sponsored a giveaway for my lucky readers today. One of you will win a pattern of your choice from the 1 Puddle Plan Pattern Shop!

Here is what you need to do to win:

So you have two chances to win, I will randomly choose a winner on Thursday evening (Australian time)

We don’t really do ‘date night’. If we go out for dinner, its always as a family, and its always to a family restaurant (read – one that has a play area for the kidlets). However, on the two days each week that my husband and I are working in the same building, we do go out to lunch together, just the two of us. So ‘date night’ for us, is a regular thing, but perhaps not as glamorous as the title suggests.
